FAQ

Q: Wait, I thought MilkBoy was a recording studio?

A: MilkBoy started as a recording studio in north Philly in 1994. Since then we’ve opened two coffee shops and our downtown bar, restaurant and music-venue in order to more widely serve the music community. The recording studio is still the hub of the MilkBoy group; it’s located in Philadelphia, PA, at 421 N 7th Street.

Q: What kind of food do you serve?

A: The meat and produce used in our kitchens are largely sourced from local outlets, and much of it is organic. We’ve got a variety of menu options to satisfy everyone, including many vegan items. View the full menu here.

Q: I’m in a band. How can I get booked at MilkBoy?

A: Most of our booking is done by Bonfire; send your information to booking[at]milkboyphilly.com and we’ll check you out!

Q: Can I hold a private party at MilkBoy?

A:Yes! Email us at events@milkboyphilly.com or call us at (215)925-6455. Our upstairs venue space is private, has a big bar, a full PA system and is beautiful! Our rates are low and our hospitality is generous and fun. We will give you the complete run-down in person, you’ll see that hosting your event at MilkBoy will give your guests something to talk about all year long.

Q: Where can I find information on upcoming shows?

A: There is a frequently updated calendar of shows here.

Q: How do I buy tickets?

A: Pre-sale tickets for all shows are available online, or you can get them at the bar on the day of the show.

Q: Where can I park?

A: There are some lots and a garage nearby on Sansom street, or metered street parking. Parking is FREE after 6pm every Wednesday night!

Q: Do I have to be 21 to see a show at MilkBoy?

A: YES! Our restaurant/cafe is open to all, but the upstairs venue is open only to those who are 21 and over (with a valid ID!)

Q: How do I get a job at MilkBoy?

A: We do this the old fashioned way. If you’d like to join our family we prefer if you bring your resume in person and ask one of our staff if we’re hiring and they’ll point you in the right direction.

Q: Is your venue handicapped accessible?

A: The first floor is. Unfortunately, the second floor is not, but please feel free to contact us if you’d like more information and we will try to be as accommodating as possible.

Q: Do I have to buy tickets in advance?

A: No, but many shows do sell out, so why not? Also, pre-sale tickets can sometimes be cheaper.

Q: I just ordered tickets online. Now what?

A: Your name will be on the list at the door on the night of the show. Show up with valid ID and you’ll be all set!

Q: Are refunds or exchanges available if I can’t make the show I bought tickets for?

A: Nope. Sorry!

Q: What time does the show start?

A: Door times vary from show to show…check the calendar for specifics. Also, keep in mind, there may be two shows in one night, so make sure you know what time the right one starts, and that you purchase tickets accordingly.

Q: Is there anywhere at MilkBoy I can hang out without having to buy show tickets/pay a cover?

A: Of course! There is almost never a cover to hang out downstairs.

Q: Are your shows seated?

A: No unless specifically stated. MilkBoy is a standing-room-only venue.

Q: Can I take pictures at your venue?

A: Take ‘em, post ‘em, tweet ‘em, and send them to us at @milkboyphilly!
